Compostable Bags

In an effort to reduce plastic bag waste, we have switched to providing certified (ASTM D6400) compostable produce & shopping bags at the farm stand & farmers' markets.
However, it should be noted that compostable bags are not a perfect solution to this problem since:
a) they must be composted in an industrial composting facility
b) not all industrial composting facilities will accept them (because they can be difficult to separate & sort from regular plastic bags)
c) they cannot be recycled
Therefore, we encourage our customers to bring their own produce & shopping bags to the farm stand & farmers' markets whenever possible!
